The prescriptions of traditional Korean medicine is on the basis of the differentiation of syndromes and the establishment of therapeeutic methods, to pick out proper drugs and organically constitute them in the light of the principles of formain a prescription.
In this paper, we chose Rhei Radix which has purgative, heat-firing and blood circulating effects. And we obserbed the effects of mixture with rhei radix in various kinds of herbs on the extraction amount of sennoside b, one of the purgative compounds in Rhei Radix.
In the mixture of Paeoniae Radix, Perciae Semen, Carthami Flos, Scutellariae Radix, the extracting amount of sennoside b is more than that of Rhei Radix itself orderly. On the other hand, in the mixture of Cinnamnomi Ramulus, Angelica Gigantis Radix, Aurantii Fructus, Natri sulfus, the amount is less than that of Rhei Rhizoma itself orderly.
